Police search for man who set woman on fire in S.F.

Police are searching for a 22-year-old San Francisco man who was witnessed dousing a woman with flammable liquid and setting her on fire around midday Sunday. ?

Dexter Oliver, believed to have had a dating relationship with the woman, approached her and threw the liquid on her body, witnesses told police.

Officers responded to reports of a woman screaming at 12:17 p.m. in the city's Bayview District, according to police spokesman Officer Carlos Manfredi. The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed by police, was rushed to St. Francis Hospital?s Bothin Burn Center. She is being treated for life-threatening injuries.

"Most of her face is burnt," the victim's sister, Precious Craig, told?KGO-TV?in San Francisco. "Just a little bit of hair is still there, but most of her face is burned."

"She took off her shirt and dropped it off there, and then she was running because she got burnt because of the shirt," an anonymous witness told?KGO-TV.

Dexter Oliver, 22, is suspected of attempted murder of a San Francisco woman. Police believe that he doused his girlfriend with flammable liquid and then set her on fire. She is being treated for life-threatening injuries.

The?woman took off her clothes and managed to put out the fire, but police said she still sustained potentially deadly injuries,?NBC Bay Area reported.

Oliver, whose photo was posted on the San Francisco Police Department website, is wanted for attempted murder and arson. He was last seen wearing dark pajama pants with a shamrock print and gray and red Nike shoes. A description also included his unusual hair cut: A fish buzzed on one side of his head, a lightning bolt buzzed on the other.

Oliver has had previous run-ins with San Francisco police, a police spokesman said, although he could not elaborate on the crimes specifically. In San Mateo County,?court records show that Oliver was issued a restraining order in 2008. Courtroom minutes show that a woman filed the petition, which was granted and required that Oliver stay at least 100 yards from the woman and her child.
