Satellite radio provides customers with hours of commercial free listening. Sirius, one of the most widely recognized satellite radio companies was launched in 2002 and provides listeners with close to 70 streaming music channels and 65 more channels of sports, news, and entertainment. The original company, Satellite CD Radio Inc., was founded by Martine Rothblatt in 1990. Sirius operates much like a premium cable television network such as Dish. Subscribing to Sirius will cost you though; monthly subscriptions start at close to $13.00 and a lifetime subscription will run you near $500.00! The question we all want to answer is, is it really worth it? Sirius averages about only six minutes of commercials an hour, significantly less than many of the basic radio stations most Americans tune into on a daily basis. By cutting out the commercials and news from radio broadcasts, listeners aren't receiving nearly as much information as they used to. While there are many perks to subscribing to a satellite radio service, basic radio still provides listeners with a more up-to-date position on current news.?
