Silicon Valley VC firm Mayfield Fund is adding a new partner today, bringing on more enterprise talent with co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft-acquired enterprise hybrid storage company StorSimple, Ursheet Parikh.
Parikh was most recently the founder and CEO of StorSimple, a Mayfield-backed application-optimized hybrid storage solution for Microsoft, VMware, and others. The startup was acquired by Microsoft last year and was integrated into Windows Azure. Parikh served as a GM of marketing for the server, cloud, and tools business group at the Redmond-based company. Prior to StorSimple, Parikh was a product marketing executive at Cisco, which he joined through the acquisition of Andiamo Systems.
Navin Chaddha, Mayfield Fund Managing Director, tells us that when the firm raised its most recent fund last year ($365 million for its fourteenth fund), Mayfield decided to ?double down? on the enterprise space when it came to hiring. He says that over 70 percent of the firm?s investments involve the enterprise, but Mayfield was looking for talent and expertise in the cloud, and storage space. Parikh is the sixth member of Mayfield?s investment team.
Mayfield Fund is one of the oldest venture capital firms in the US, focusing on early-stage to growth-stage investments in information technology companies, in particular on enterprise software, Internet consumer & media services, and communications. The firm was founded in 1969 by Thomas J. Davis, Jr.. Since inception, the firm has raised over $2.8 billion of investor commitments across 13 private equity funds.
